More Focus Upgrades: In-app capital raises, mini-charts, notes and more market content

We named our data and trading platform Focus for a reason.

In a world of fast‑moving market data, with countless emails and websites competing for your attention, Focus is designed to help you cut through the noise – delivering efficiency, speed, and intuitive design where you need it, and aggregating several products into one.
We are therefore very pleased to announce our 30th Major Upgrade, with some new novel functions that continue our commitment to precision and efficiency.

To access the latest features, be sure to refresh your screen and update your app today!

In-built capital raises & IPOs, with alerts

We have now embedded the capital raising process directly into the platform, allowing you to be notified of, and bid for, placements and IPOs – as easily as buying shares – making Focus the only fully integrated market information, trading and capital raising platform available to Australian investors.

You’ll find the ‘Raises’ panel at the bottom of the ‘Media’ panel. To move it higher, simply hover over ‘Raises’ – click and hold – then drag the panel to your preferred position.

We will continue to notify you by email, but you can now set mobile platform alerts for new opportunities, and then unsubscribe from the emails if you don’t want them anymore.

When you bid, it will appear in the new ‘Bids’ section underneath your portfolio, as will any changes to allocations. Then, once allocated, the stock will move into your main portfolio – if settling to your Openmarkets account.

Mini-charts – new customisations

Mini-charts are a feature of the ‘Classic’ layout in watchlists.

We believe that these new customisations will improve your ability to quickly scan the stocks in your watchlists, for the trends that are important to you.

If you are a short-term trader, you might want to leave the mini-chart set to ‘intraday’, or change to ‘5-day’, to gauge the shorter-term volatility.

But if you are a long-term buy-and-hold investor, perhaps you’ll want to change it to ’52 weeks’, to reduce that short-term noise.

These settings (and a lot more) can be found by clicking the settings button in the watchlist section, as per below:

For example, here are some CBA mini-charts using different timeframes:

Notes field – store files or links

Although we are continually chasing down new media partners, we realise that we cannot possibly source every piece of information, or embed every website.

So we have expanded the functionality of the Notes section, at the bottom of the Depth/Fundamentals panel on the RHS. (As with any of the widgets in the side panels, you can move this up or down too, or close it altogether – if you don’t use it.)

But perhaps you’ll want to save a piece of research, or an article, or an image. Or perhaps you want to add the URL for the company’s LinkedIn page…or their Hotcopper page…for easy access.

Another quality market content provider

We’re excited to welcome SmallCaps.com.au — Australia’s #1 destination for ASX small-cap and micro-cap company news — as the newest addition to the Focus media network. Small Caps brings deep coverage of emerging Australian stocks across mining, biotech, technology, energy, and more, helping investors stay ahead of the next wave of market stories.

With their inclusion, Focus now aggregates 13 different market media providers, making it the largest embedded library of market-related content within any Australian trading platform. From breaking news to long-form analysis, Focus users can now link stories directly to stock alerts on their watchlists — bringing insights and opportunities together in one place.
